About Koinonia Therapy
Therapy that makes room for the whole story.
Meaningful change happens when people feel safe enough to be honest, understood enough to explore what is underneath the struggle, and supported enough to practice something new.
About Lora Larcomb
Professionally

My style as a therapist is compassionate but directive. I believe therapy should be a place where you feel genuinely heard and understood, but I also don't believe my role is simply to listen while you remain stuck. I will ask difficult questions, help identify patterns, offer practical tools, and gently challenge you when I believe doing so can help you move toward meaningful change.
My clinical approach is integrative because I don't believe there is a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. Depending on the needs of each client, I draw from evidence-based approaches including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), attachment-based therapy, solution-focused therapy, and Gottman-informed interventions for couples. My work in sex therapy is guided by a biopsychosocial-spiritual model, which considers the biological, psychological, relational, social, and spiritual factors that can influence sexual health and intimacy. I also incorporate behavioral exercises, communication protocols, psychoeducation, and other clinical interventions while drawing from specialized training in the faith and spiritual dynamics that can influence marriage and sexuality.
I received my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University. I am a Certified Christian Sex Therapist Associate through the American Board of Christian Sex Therapists, with additional Christian sex therapy training through the Institute for Sexual Wholeness. I am also Gottman trained and a Certified PREPARE/ENRICH Facilitator.
In my work with marital intimacy, I believe sexuality is about more than sexual functioning. God's design for intimacy within marriage includes mutual pleasure, vulnerability, connection, and deeply knowing one another.
About Lora Larcomb
Personally

Long before marriage counseling became my profession, marriage ministry was already part of my story. I felt called to marriage ministry approximately 18 years ago, and helping couples build stronger, healthier, Christ-centered marriages has remained one of the enduring passions of my life.
I've also been married for 20 years and am the mom of three amazing teenage boys. My own life has given me a deep appreciation for both the beauty and complexity of marriage and family life. I don't approach couples from the perspective that healthy marriages never struggle. I believe some of our deepest growth can happen when we're willing to face those struggles honestly and allow the Lord to work in the places that need healing.
I have served in the military and have a particular appreciation for the unique demands experienced by service members, their families, and first responders. While these are communities I enjoy working with, my practice serves individuals and couples from many different backgrounds and walks of life.
Missions work is also close to my heart, and I've had opportunities to serve in several countries around the world. Some of those experiences have intersected directly with my professional passion for marriage and sexual healing, including marriage- and intimacy-focused work in Thailand, Cambodia, and Ghana.
I have also led and facilitated re|engage, a national marriage ministry that helps couples strengthen their marriages through biblical teaching, community, and honest conversations about married life.
Why Koinonia?
A name rooted in connection.
Koinonia is a Greek word used throughout the New Testament meaning fellowship, communion, and shared life. It reflects the kind of deep connection God designed us to experience in relationship with Him and with one another. At Koinonia Therapy, that idea is at the heart of my work—helping couples move beyond simply living alongside one another toward greater emotional, spiritual, relational, and sexual intimacy.

Insurance & Headway
Aetna and self-pay
Aetna is currently the only insurance I accept, and insurance may be used when treatment involves a qualifying diagnosable mental health condition. Marriage counseling and sexual concerns may not be covered when there is no qualifying diagnosis.
Headway is my primary platform for scheduling and practice management for both self-pay and Aetna clients.
